An Empire Dresser in Red

Happy September! Who's ready for crunchy leaves under foot, cozy sweaters, and caramel apples?? I love September, it competes hard with May as my favorite month. It's also typically my busiest month, possibly due to the fact that September weather is perfect for furniture refinishing. 

      I got this dresser last week from one of my favorite pickers, Johnette. It's a lovely mid 19th century Empire scroll front chest in mahogany and pine. I sanded, stained, and sealed the drawers and did a fun stencil on them. I painted the case in a rich red chalk paint, distressed it, and sealed it with dark wax. It's all set for a new home!
